Some Websites I've Done...
Hero Jr. - website
The Client:
Hero Jr., a rock band based in Indianapolis, IN, are rising stars and you'll be hearing them on the radio sooner than you may think.
What They Wanted:
This group of fun yet hard-working guys wanted a website to promote their shows, music, and themselves. So, we started with the basics: A music player on the home page, a list of shows and separate bio pages for each of the band members.
The Result:
After some of my own research, I found out that they were going to need a little more than a show list, music player and bios. As a band member myself, I know what it's like trying to promote your shows ... it gets difficult. With that in mind, I chose to make it really easy for them to update their show list by editing one single page. By editing that page, those shows are added in either the left or right column of every page (this was done by using the PHP include function). We also decided to add an image slideshow where they can add pictures and update the captions however they want by editing and adding some JavaScript.
Notes:
Since these guys are pretty tech-savvy, we use a standard FTP client to load files. Along the way I was able to comment the code for the pages and files that they need to edit. Not only have they been using JavaScript and PHP to edit their website, they have been doing it with great success! We also have Google Analytics tracking in place and their site has been doing better than we imagined. Reports are sent out weekly and we're never let down by their dedicated and growing fan base!
Crowd of Voices - website
The Client:
Based in Kalamazoo, MI, Crowd of Voices are going to be the next big thing! I can think of a bunch of words to describe their music, but the first one that comes to mind is FUN! Visit their site or any of their other links to listen and they'll blow you away! I promise you, they never cease to amaze.
What They Wanted:
Luckily for me, not only are they great musicians—these guys are extremely skilled in Photoshop which means that the incredible graphic design and layout was provided by them. However, they came to me to add the functionality that they wanted to their site. They were looking for their website to serve as kind of a "central hub" for any and all information related to the band. Links to YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and more are listed.
The Result:
Since design customization on most profile pages are limited, they really wanted to express themselves on this site and I think they got the point across! We ended up with a well designed, easy to navigate website that everyone can enjoy. Since the initial launch of the site, Crowd of Voices has been maintaining and updated the site as they please. I'm happy. They're happy. We're all happy!
